L.I.F.E Movement

In June of last year LIFEmovement came together with partners across the city to put together a 4 day symposium, with KRS ONE speaking on Stop the Violence Movement, it was a moment where we we able to come together as community workers at City Hall, to begin the dialogue around Toronto’s local experience with violence, and as workers how does this affect our work in uplifting our various communities.

Since that event we have been continually debriefing with our various partners across the city, and continually are doing so. We held a Community Debrief, and gathered some reflections from the Symposium, from June, and thank you to all those who came out to City Hall, to give us your feedback, critique and ideas on where you would like to see us go together in the future.

The LIFEmovement would like to invite you to our Membership / Partnership Meeting on April 21st, 2010
at New City Hall, in Committee Room 2, from 7:00PM to 9:30PM.

The LIFEmovement is extending this invitation as an opportunity to participate in reviewing our current membership and partnership approaches and models. We’re really excited to be sharing some of the models we’ve explored, as we are very focused on keeping the community heavily involved in the development of this movement.
We have identified community mobilization and implementing collective feedback as necessary in a group who works for and with the community. We are requesting your thoughts, opinions and suggestions as we move forward. The Membership and Partnership Meeting is also a chance to learn about LIFEmovement and opportunities for new relationships and how to make working together an effective and positive experience.

We’re asking if you could circulate this email to friends and other organizations and we hope to see you on April 21, 2010!
